Erick Valentin
Performer, conductor, and institutional educator
Erick Valentin holds concurrent appointments at the Eastman School of Music as a DMA candidate in trombone performance and Graduate Teaching Assistant — a dual role that places him at the intersection of conservatory-tier artistry and rigorous academic inquiry.
As an orchestral musician, Erick has held principal trombone positions in Mexico with the Camerata de Coahuila, Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de Mexico, Orquesta Filarmónica de Boca del Rio, Orquesta Filarmónica de Chihuahua, y Orquesta Sinfónica de Puebla. In the US, Erick has performed with the Syracuse Orchestra, Santa Fe Opera, New Mexico Philharmonic, and the San Juan Colorado Symphony.
His teaching responsibilities span undergraduate Brass Methods, applied secondary trombone instruction, and trombone lessons at the Eastman Community Music School.
As a soloist, Erick has performed featured concerti with leading professional and academic ensembles across the Americas. His solo appearances include engagements with the Puebla Symphony Orchestra, The Boca del Río Philharmonic, the Camerata de Coahuila, the University of New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra of the Academia de Música Renacimiento. Equally he has been a featured soloist with the Banda Sinfónica Guelaguetza, France tour 2019 and the Sandia Brass Quintet.
Beyond the classroom and the stage, Erick was co-founder and coordinator of the "Trombontepec" National Trombone Festival a national brass music festival as well as the Project "Cantos de un Trombón" Featuring trombone and piano recitals and the premier of several new works for trombone.
